On August 31, 2026 SSL Certificates on older versions of EditShare software will expire, preventing normal operation. This can currently be seen when logging into FLOW Control on such systems, though it affects all storage, FLOW and Ark services on the server regardless of whether FLOW is installed on them.
In order to ensure uninterrupted functionality, servers must have updated certificates installed prior to their expiration.
We are contacting customers directly to make them aware of this issue. However, we may not have the right or most up-to-date contacts for every customer, so we’d really appreciate your help in making sure no affected system is missed.
If you have customers running older versions of EditShare software, please help us make sure they are aware of the issue and have the information they need to take the appropriate action before the certificates expire.
Am I impacted?
If you are running EditShare server version 2025.1.0 or later you are not impacted by this and no further action is needed.
If you are running EditShare server version 2024.2.2 or earlier, you are impacted and need to take action for your system to remain operational.
What do I need to do?
If you have an active support contract which entitles you to update, we'd recommend that you update to the latest (2026.2.1) release to resolve this issue as well as get software updates and fixes.
What if I can't update to 2025.1.0 or later (due to support contract or otherwise)?
You can update the certificates on your EditShare servers by running the "hot fix" (linked below) from the command line of any server in your cluster. After running the script, you will need to then reboot all servers in the cluster before the new certificate takes effect.
Installing the "hot fix"
Download the "hot fix" script here
Copy the script to any server in your cluster. You may upload it to the SMB File Exchange of your master server by mounting the SMB File Exchange in EditShare Connect.
You can also copy it to the same location by running the following command (this will be necessary after the certificates expire)
scp ssl-cert-fix.pye editshare@<EFS_MASTER_IP>:/home/editshare/FileExchange/SMB
where <EFS_MASTER_IP> is the IP address of your EFS Master server and that command is run on a workstation from the directory where you downloaded the ssl-cert-fix.pye script to.
Once you've copied the file to your server, navigate to that directory on the command line and run
editshare --script ssl-cert-fix.pye
That will output all servers the certificates were updated on and any that failed to update. Provided all servers had their certificates updated successfully, you'll just need to reboot all servers. Once the reboots occur, you should be all set.
If the script shows failures for installing the certificates to any servers in your cluster, please ensure the servers are accessible. If they are and it still fails, please reach out to EditShare support.
